Victoria's Secret recently launched its "Love Cloud" collection, and the campaign for it has officially started. This is a momentous event for the Reynoldsburg, Ohio headquartered lingerie company because it features the company's first model with Down syndrome.
According to Fox Business, Victoria's Secret hired Sofía Jirau, and she expressed her gratitude to the company for including her in the brand's new line of intimate wear. The 25-year-old Puerto Rican also made history for being the first Victoria's Secret model with the said congenital disorder.
Last week, Jirau shared a post via her Instagram page, showing a news clip about herself being hired by Victoria's Secret to be one of its models. "One day I dreamed it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true," she wrote on her post in Spanish. "I can finally tell you my big secret. I am the first Victoria's Secret model with Down syndrome."
Jirau thanked the brand for seeing her as a "#NoLimits" model and including her in the Love Cloud Collection campaign. The model further said that this is just the beginning, suggesting there are more projects in store for her.
She will also be working alongside Hailey Bieber and 16 other models for this new line from Victoria's Secret. They were said to have been purposely chosen and put together to accentuate diversity and inclusion.
The company's spokesperson said they are thrilled to have Sofia Jirau aboard. The rep added that the brand is committed to welcoming, celebrating, and providing support to all women.
"Love Cloud Collection is a major moment in the brand's evolution," Victoria's Secret's head creative director, Raúl Martinez, said in a press release for the new launch. "From the cast of incredible women that bring the collection to life, to the incredible inclusive spirit on set, this campaign is an important part of the new Victoria's Secret standard we are creating."
Sofia Jirau started her modeling career in 2019 and officially debuted at the New York Fashion Week on Feb. 10, 2020. From there, she has modeled for several companies and appeared in magazines, including Vogue Mexico, Walgreen's Puerto Rico, People en Español, and her own clothing and home decor brand called Alavett.
