DALLAS, Nov. 17, 2016 -- Voyager Sopris Learning®, a provider of evidence-based preK–12 instructional solutions and professional services, has donated $40,000 of early learning classroom curriculum and books to the Louisiana Department of Education to aid child care centers in the Baton Rouge area impacted by the historic flooding.
According to Jeffrey A. Elliott, President, Voyager Sopris Learning donated We Can Early Learning Curriculum packages, a proven prekindergarten solution that prepares children for academic success in kindergarten and beyond. In addition, the company also donated a full day of face-to-face We Can product training, as well as hundreds of books geared for youths ages four and five.
“Our hearts break for the people of Louisiana, and we hope our donation to replace key learning materials lost in August’s floods will help with the healing and recovery process,” Elliott said. “Louisiana’s licensed child care centers play a significant role to ensure children entering kindergarten are ready to succeed, and this must continue to move forward despite the devastation.”
The We Can curriculum, authored by Dr. Vicki Gibson, provides a roadmap for early childhood success and features easy-to-implement lesson plans and a wide range of innovative learning tools.
