Blizzard Entertainment has been rumored to be working on another remastered title, this time of the classic “Diablo 2.” Considering what happened with the launch of “Warcraft 3: Reforged” earlier this year, it is understandable if some are more skeptical than excited about this new information.
Blizzard has another remaster in the pipeline despite ‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’ fiasco
The rumored remastered game could be the redeeming factor that Blizzard needs for its reputation when it comes to revisiting well-loved classic games. It should be noted that Blizzard’s work on “StarCraft: Remastered” was well-received. But fans who are still disappointed with how “Warcraft 3: Reforged” turned out have their reasons to feel that way.
The gaming community has been speculating on a remastered release of “Diablo 2” for a while now. But Actu Gaming’s recent report, per sources close to Blizzard, has put a title to the anticipated game. The project is allegedly going to be branded “Diablo 2: Resurrected.”
Meanwhile, it is understandable if gamers are wary in taking the reports about the “Diablo 2” remastered. Even though Blizzard deployed several patches for “Warcraft 3: Reforged” in the previous months, the game is still far from what many fans have expected from the developer. Some crucial gameplay features like the Ladders are still missing without a specific timeline when it is going to be added in the game.
‘Diablo 2: Resurrected’ release date: What to expect
Now, about “Diablo 2: Resurrected,” the same report claimed that it is planned to be released within the fourth quarter of 2020. Details about its announcement, however, are still unknown even to insiders. But if the game is slated to launch later this year, then Blizzard must be making arrangements to confirm the project very soon.
The report also mentioned the possibility for Blizzard to wait until BlizzCon 2019 that usually happens in early November. It seems to close to the rumored late 2020 release date, though.
The likelihood of changing the Q4 2020 release date timeline was also considered in the report noting that development could be affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Meanwhile, work on the “Diablo 2: Resurrected” reportedly began shortly after the release of the “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” in summer 2017.
