“Warcraft 3: Reforged” has had an interesting launch day earlier this year, to say the least. While Blizzard Entertainment has released several patches over the three months of the game’s existence, players are still missing some significant and staple features, such as the ladder system.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’: Where is the ladder system?
There is barely any video game these days that launch without having some sort of issue that would upset even its most loyal fans. However, the case of “Warcraft 3: Reforged” is very different. Aside from glitches, players had to endure persistent disconnects, among other issues. But what disappointed most players is the lack of the usual gameplay features they loved from playing the classic version of the game.
Being an online game, it is almost hard to imagine “Warcraft 3: Reforged” without the ladder system. But that has been the scenario from the beginning. On the bright side, Blizzard has promised that features such as leaderboards and clans will arrive later on. Exactly when that happens, the developer failed to disclose that information.
In an earlier statement addressing the “Warcraft 3: Reforged” backlash, Blizzard promised, “Another area of concern we’re seeing is regarding online features such as leaderboards and clans ... As with [StarCraft: Remastered], these and other features will be included in a major patch for ‘Reforged,’ which will also address the issue for players of the original game.”
That statement meant two things. First, Blizzard already went through a similar situation with another one of its IPs. That does not exactly help their case or boosts their rapport with disgruntled customers, but it at least proves they could deliver that promise and wait for features like the ladder system is not a lost cause.
Blizzard promised to share its plans in “the coming weeks” when the said statement was posted in early February. However, to this day, the developer has yet to come up with even a roadmap of when this “major patch” could be released.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’ latest update
In the meantime, “Warcraft 3: Reforged” players have to appreciate that Blizzard has yet to miss its promised schedule of patches. In March, Blizzard confirmed it had assigned a dedicated team to work on monthly updates and improvements for the game. Despite adjustments that it might have to go through due to COVID-19, the developer was still able to deliver patch 1.32.5 right before April ended.
