It is almost a month since the latest “Warcraft 3: Reforged” patch was released, but Blizzard is still mum on the status of the next batch up updates and improvements. Meanwhile, developers deployed significant changes in the game’s matchmaking rating system.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’ update
Blizzard announced the new mechanics for the MMR last week. The list of changes is not that long, but they are quite significant. Developers widened the gap between the lowest and highest tracked values in “Warcraft 3: Reforged” in hopes of having a more accurate representation of players in matchmaking.
As Blizzard made explicitly clear, though, the change will affect more those who are “very high skill players.” “With this change, a 5000 matchmaking rating (MMR) should now represent a player who is rated higher than 50% of all players,” Blizzard further explained.
Unfortunately, the matchmaking-focused update is still not what most fans have been waiting for – it does not answer when the Ladder system goes live on “Warcraft 3: Reforged.” This is one of the gameplay features players were expecting to have upon launch but is now unclear whether it would still be launched in the game.
Meanwhile, these changes affect players in the Free for All system as well. “Each player’s MMR will now be updated based on their placement in the game,” developers said. This means that, in FFA, players placed in first and second gains MMR while players placing in third and fourth spots will lose rating. But the changes will be more drastic for players landing in the first and fourth places.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’: Where is the April patch?
Blizzard reassured “Warcraft 3: Reforged” players last month that they have a dedicated group of developers working on monthly patches of the game. Many gamers would agree that there are still plenty of improvements, fixes, and additional contents that need to happen in the remastered title so the promised monthly patch was a positive development.
However, fans started to worry about the status of the April patch for “Warcraft 3: Reforged” as Blizzard appears silent on its release. There are still two weeks left before the month ends, so technically the developers are still not late with the delivery of the next patch. Blizzard has also yet to announce if the COVID-19 crisis has affected its timeline for development and release for the next patch.
