The RTS game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is one of Blizzard’s best works ever and is a beloved strategy title that many fans still play to this day. Those fans actually just got a very good piece of news, with the classic game getting its biggest patch in years. Warcraft III recently got widescreen support, which is awesome for those who are not exactly enjoying the 4:3 screen ratio that it had prior to the patch.
As Digital Trends notes, a game as old as Warcraft III getting a patch this size is a huge deal. On top of the widescreen support, the game is also getting some gameplay tweaks and some adjustments to its current features. For example, up to 24 hours can now be held in the lobbies, which is double the original 12 for an online battle.
There are also some more team color options, though, this is just to be expected. Players who are still rocking Windows XP and want to enjoy the new features might want to go for an upgrade, however, not that they shouldn’t have already done it before. After Patch 1.29, the OS will no longer be supported.
A full list of the changes that the new patch comes with are listed at Comicbook.com, including some details about the bugs that were fixed. While this new development will undoubtedly make hardcore fans of the game happy, this new patch also comes with the possible implications of more things to come.
Rumors about a remaster for the game and its expansion, Frozen Throne, have been swirling around the community for a while now. The same goes for reports of a possible continuation of the series, which was put on ice because of World of Warcraft. In any case, it will be interesting to see what Blizzard will do with the title next.
