The boys are back to give us a glimpse of what we have been missing for the last two years. Last January 1, we were given the gift of a promising new year as we get to watch the 2016 special episode of 'Sherlock' entitled ''The Abominable Bride'' which aired on PBS and BBC One.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman got to play the genius master of deduction Sherlock and his assistant Dr. Watson, respectively. We also got to see our beloved Mrs. Hudson, Mary Morstan, and Inspector Lestrade in one of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories. The episode was set on the 1980's Victorian London where the pair is going to handle a mysterious case of a woman who committed suicide who is currently wrecking havoc by taking revenge on people. The 90-minute video was more than enough to get us on our feet and heighten our excitement as we wait for the upcoming fourth season of the hit TV series. But the question really is, when can we finally watch the series?
It was known that the Victorian-themed episode was only for the 2016 special and not for the entire fourth season so we will be expecting to see Sherlock and Dr. Watson back in the modern world. As always, there will only be three episodes and filming will start this Spring to accommodate the hectic schedules of the stars. Executive producer Sue Vertue hinted that it might be aired on January 2017 and Steven Moffat gifted us with a clue that the upcoming episodes will have "...dark stuff coming".
There will be so much in store for the Sherlock fans out there as Moffat said on Entertainment Weekly that "We’re going to try to take it somewhere we’ve never been before — a challenging place to go...". Mark Gatiss also added that life changing events will happen to the major characters.
I bet all that information thrilled you for the fourth season of 'Sherlock'. Let us all cross our fingers for an earlier release of our beloved master of deduction. What are your thoughts on the special episode of 'Sherlock'? Comment them below!
