The Nike Air Max Sunder “Fuchsia Flash” releases on August 6, 2024, for $180, available on Nike SNKRS and select retailers. The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Gold Medal” also returns on August 6 for $190, honoring Kobe Bryant’s first Olympic gold medal win.
Nike Air Max Sunder ‘Fuchsia Flash’ Set to Release August 6 on Nike SNKRS and Select Retailers
The Nike Air Max Sunder “Fuchsia Flash” is officially scheduled to be released on August 6, 2024, for $180. The shoes will be available on Nike SNKRS and select retailers globally.
One of the crown jewels of the recent SNKRS preview showcases, the Nike Air Max Sunder is finally on the verge of its long-awaited return. Following the release of the Air Max Sunder “Canyon Gold” on July 11, more details have emerged about the follow-up effort, a high-energy pair in “Fuchsia Flash.”
According to Sneaker News, this shoe was previewed in the brand’s late 2023 look-ahead, and much of the composition aligns with expectations. The Sunder’s primary design features remain intact, from the zip-up closure to the reflective TPU panels encircling the lower half of the upper. Visually, the palette follows a blueprint similar to the “Canyon Gold,” featuring a high-octane contrast shade on the fabric exterior and visible air at the heel. A staid combination of greyscale coloring dominates the rest of the shoe.
This edition, and the comeback effort for the Air Max Sunder in general, offers a chance to re-establish a turn-of-the-century rarity, fitting into the “Cult Classics” approach of the past year. The Nike Air Max Sunder “Fuschia Flash” lands on August 8 and retails for $180.
Nike Kobe 4 ‘Gold Medal’ Returns August 6, Celebrating Kobe Bryant’s First Olympic Win
Initially released in 2009 to honor Kobe Bryant’s first Olympic gold medal win at the Beijing Games, the Nike Kobe 4 “Gold Medal” ($190) returns on August 6 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. See the “Where To Buy” section below for a comprehensive list of available raffles and purchase channels.
The release coincides with the current USA Men’s National Basketball Team competing for Olympic hardware in Paris, with a quarterfinal matchup against Brazil scheduled on the shoe’s release date. Suppose the USA meets expectations and wins gold again. In that case, it will mark the team’s eighth gold medal win in the nine Olympic Games since the committee started allowing professional athletes to compete, a run of dominance that began with the “Dream Team” led by Michael Jordan in 1992. The lone anomaly occurred at the Athens Olympics 2004, where the USA took home bronze after falling to Argentina in the semifinals. This makes 2008’s “Redeem Team,” led by Kobe Bryant, iconic, including the sneakers released to honor the Mamba’s first gold medal.
While the 2024 Protro differs from the original release in terms of performance features, the colorway remains unchanged. A patriotic mix of red, white, and blue combines a metallic gold forefoot and heel, complete with an insole graphic of a gold medal that reads “08/24/08.” This date marks Kobe and Team USA’s gold medal win in Beijing and Kobe Bryant Day (aka Mamba Day), reflecting his two NBA uniform numbers.
Following the release of the Kobe 4 “Philly” and “Girl Dad” earlier this year, the “Gold Medal” will likely be the most sought-after of the trio. Considered one of the best Kobe 4 colorways, grey market prices for the 2009 edition regularly exceed $800. However, the 2024 Protro should make the famed shoe accessible to all.
