“I try to go on one big trip every year,” Veronica explained. “For me, it’s not just a vacation, it’s also a way to see the world. I like learning about new places, trying different foods, everything that comes with being in a new country. That’s what convinced me to go to Mumbai-it seemed like the best place to go if I really wanted a cultural experience.”
Veronica decided that for this vacation she would do something extra special by finding a local professional photographer in Mumbai. Her friends were always asking her to share stories from her various trips, and it seemed important to have good pictures from a place as special and diverse as Mumbai.
“I’m not typically the sort of person who would hire a private photographer, but after hearing some positive experiences from my friends who also travel a lot, I decided to give it a try. Mumbai seemed like the perfect place to do a photo shoot with a local since, one, I didn’t know much about the city, and two, I thought it would be the best way to truly capture the cultural aspects of the city in photos,” said Veronica.

Upon arriving in Mumbai, immediately one of the things that struck Veronica was the combination of colonial and traditional architecture styles. One of her favorite places was the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the famous railway station that was also declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic significance in India. The combined architectural styles featuring both Victorian and traditional Indian design perfectly symbolized the somewhat turbulent past of Mumbai, once called Bombay when it was still under colonial rule by Britain. Veronica got some photos of her own at the terminal and become more excited at the prospect of getting other photographs with a professional.
The local professional photographer in Mumbai had recommended that they do the photo shoot at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, famous for being the world’s largest park in city limits. Being a local, the photographer knew all the best places in the park to take photographs, including some of the native trees and wildflowers as well as the Kanheri Caves, the ancient cave temples located within the bounds of the park. Veronica was amazed at how much there was to see in the park, from the historic caves to the stunning natural beauty so close to the bustling city yet with the feeling of being worlds away.
“I was so grateful to have a local with me doing the photo shoot in Mumbai,” said Veronica. “I’m happy to have found the Localgrapher service, which allowed me to be flexible and get the advice from someone who really knew the city well. Mumbai was such an amazing place to visit, but it’s so big and there’s so much to see that it definitley helped to have a local give me tips about places to visit. The whole experience really made this trip stand out against the other traveling I’ve done, especially since I can relive these memories through the photos and share them with my friends once I return home.”
