PENNSAUKEN, N.J., Aug. 30, 2017 -- Are you ready to fall in love? With each new wine selection featured in your next “Weekly Tasting,” you’re guaranteed to uncork a great crush. Weekly Tasting is the new immersive wine experience that has everyone loving and learning about new wines. Gifted Sommeliers Elizabeth Schneider (Podcast host, Wine for Normal People) and Laura Maniec (Master Sommelier and owner of Corkbuzz Wine Studio) introduce a themed grouping of hand-selected wines each week. Weekly Tasting is presented by the top-rated fine wines site Wines ‘Til Sold Out (WTSO).
On alternating weeks, each Sommelier selects a 4-pack of wine based on a common theme linked to a region, food, or concept. The certified Sommeliers are very selective, accepting less than 20% of the wines they try for the weekly offerings. Priced at a very affordable $69.99 per weekly selection, each includes a 10-minute tasting video, tasting cards with the Sommelier’s wine notes, and food pairings for each of the four wines. There is no membership, so users can decide from week to week what or whether they’d like to buy with no hidden fees or penalties.
Weekly Tasting is not only a new wine discovery experience; it’s also shattering the wine-glass ceiling. Only 24 of the 149 American Master Sommeliers are women, yet women are important drivers of spirits consumption trends. Weekly Tasting takes wine education and appreciation to a new level with these talented female Sommeliers, who represent a “new breed” of women in wine. They are among the women who are changing the face of the wine category, both behind the scenes and as consumers.
“Many people say they’re in a rut when it comes to wine,” commented Weekly Tasting Director of Marketing Mallory Stampone. “Some are intimidated, while others are just ready for a new wine adventure,” she explained. “Laura and Elizabeth, with their deep expertise and down-to-earth attitudes, are the perfect guides to the next great taste, and at less than $20.00 per bottle.” Stampone added that Weekly Tasting offers an “electronic cellar” that stores tasting notes and favorites and encourages sharing among friends.
The current thirst for wine bodes well for the new venture. Direct-to-consumer wine shipping has increased 75% since 2011, with a 70% increase in the volume of shipments. And overall wine consumption in the US continues to grow with 2016 total US wine sales revenue estimated at $60 billion.
