‘Wonder Woman’ actress Gal Gadot recently shared a behind-the-scenes photograph of her character battling the villain Doomsday from Zack Snyder’s film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Meanwhile, her training regime for the role of Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman has also been revealed.
According to Cinema Blend, Gadot took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes photograph of her character Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman fighting off the antagonistic Doomsday. In the image shared via Twitter, Gadot is dressed in full warrior garb as she battles with a motion capture actor. She captioned the post with, A peek at what fighting behind the scenes looks like! #BTS#TBT @batmanvsuperman #BatmanvSuperman#UltimateEdition”
Gadot is set to reprise her role as the iconic DC superheroine in Patty Jenkins’ first ever female-fronted film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). She was first introduced as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ alongside Ben Affleck, who portrayed the latest version of Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman.
Although Gadot’s performance as the superheroine was received with praise, Snyder’s film was deemed a box office disappointment and criticized as a whole. According to The Numbers, the film pulled in $868.16 million at the international box office against a production budget of $250 million.
Principal photography for the standalone ‘Wonder Woman’ film commenced on November 2015 and wrapped in May 2016. The trailer premiered at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con and was well-received by critics and fans alike.
Joining Gadot in the new cast are Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta. The film is set to follow Diana’s adventures as she leaves her island home on a mission to stop the World War to become one of Earth’s greatest heroes.
According to Foods 4 Better Health, Gadot’s casting was first met with criticism, with many saying that she was too skinny to play the mighty Diana. However, she reportedly gained 50 pounds of muscle through intensive physical training and following a weight-gain diet.
It was reported that the 31-year old Israeli actress and model indulges in weight training, pilates, yoga, and cardio exercises to achieve her look for the role. She also works with trainers Thomas Bradley and Mark Twight of Gym Jones to get her the lean and muscular physique without looking bulky. She also incorporates vegetables and high-protein food in her diet while drinking a gallon of water per day.
‘Wonder Woman’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film based on the DC comic book heroine of the same name. It is produced by DC Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment, Cruel & Unusual Films, and Warner Bros.
The film is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017.
