The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sedan debuts in China with 1,500 hp and sporty upgrades.

Xiaomi has launched pre-sales for its high-performance SU7 Ultra, an electric sedan boasting 1,500 horsepower, priced at 814,900 yuan ($114,200) in China. Set to officially launch in March 2025, the SU7 Ultra promises cutting-edge performance with speeds reaching 100 km/h in just two seconds.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: A High-Power, High-Speed Electric Sedan Begins Pre-Sales

For 814,900 yuan (114,200 USD), pre-sales of the electric vehicle Xiaomi SU7 Ultra began in China. It boasts over 1,500 hp and a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 2 seconds. According to CarNewsChina.com, the debut is scheduled for March 2025.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra takes design cues from the standard SU7 (see specs) but adds some serious upgrades. A larger body, sportier bumpers, and a large rear spoiler characterize the Ultra trim level of this vehicle. It has a wheelbase of 3000 mm and measures 5115/1970/1465 mm.

The width of its rear spoiler is 1560 mm. Additionally, it has an active rear diffusor. The 265 kg downforce is a result of these features on the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Additionally, Pirelli P Zero 5 tires are mounted on R21 wheels.

Interior Features Focused on Sports Design and Luxury Materials

Sporty seats with yellow seatbelts and an Alcantara-covered steering wheel are inside features of the Xiaomi SU7. Some parts of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, such as the seats and door cards, are upholstered in Alcantara leather. Door steps, center tunnel components, an in-cabin rearview mirror, and other interior sections are also made of carbon fiber.

Built into the SU7 Ultra is the 93.7 kWh Qilin 2.0 battery by CATL, which can discharge up to 1,330 kW. At 20%, this battery is capable of producing more than 800 kW. In addition to its CTB (cell-to-body) construction, it features a dual-surface cooling system. Charging @ 5.2C DC is possible with the upgraded battery. This equates to a charging power that is approximately five times that of the battery. Thus, it is around 490 kW. It takes 11 minutes to charge 10-80%.

Impressive Acceleration and Top Speed Performance

There are three electric motors in the SU7 Ultra, two V8s and one V6. The power comes from the pack. When used together, they produce 1,138 kW (1,526 hp, 1548 ps). A high torque of 1,770 Nm is achieved. It takes 1.98 seconds to reach 100 km/h. It takes 5.86 seconds to reach a speed of 200 km/h. Maximum speed is 350 km/h. In 9.23 seconds, it completes a quarter mile. A torque vectoring system called Asil-D is installed on the SU7 Ultra.

Up until now, no sports car has had larger carbon ceramic brake discs than the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. The front brake disc measures 430 mm x 40 mm, whereas the rear brake disc is 410 mm x 32 mm, which is a little smaller. According to reports, the ceramic brakes can withstand temperatures of more than 1300°C, or 2372°F. Akebono 6-piston front brake calipers and 4-piston rear calipers are standard on this vehicle. Stopping from 100 km/h takes 30.8 meters on the SU7 Ultra.

Xiaomi’s New Nürburgring Record and Pre-Sale Success

The SU7 Ultra Prototype set a new record for quickest four-door car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on October 24 with a lap time of 6:46.874. However, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in mass production won't be able to replicate the Prototype's success due to its bulkier design. With a curb weight of 1,900 kg, the U7 Ultra Prototype boasts a carbon fiber body.

In China, the price of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is 814,900 yuan. Around $114,200 USD. In March of 2025, the SU7 Ultra will begin selling in large quantities. The good news is that pre-sales have started. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, said at the introduction that the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT costs 1,998,000 yuan (about $280,000 USD) in China. Aside from that, it doesn't provide much power.

Sales Predictions and Production Targets for 2025

In 2025, the investment bank Goldman Sachs predicts that sales of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will reach 4,000 units. Ten minutes after the presentation concluded, the SU7 Ultra received 3,680 orders, which is worth noting.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that the automotive section of the company shipped more than 20,000 ordinary SU7 sedans in October during the SU7 Ultra launch event. By November, the carmaker hopes to have delivered 100,000 vehicles for the year. The revised goal is to have 120,000 units shipped by year's end.
