Zoom Video Communications gained 900 percent in the number of users in the UAE four weeks after relaxing the ban on voice over internet protocol apps.
According to Sam Tayan, Zoom's managing director for the Middle East and Africa, the company gained around 100,000 new free and paid users in UAE, within the first week of lifting the ban.
That number surged to one million users within the first month as businesses implemented working from home practices, and students shifted to distance learning.
Around 250 schools in UAE availed of lifting the 40 minutes meeting time limit in Zoom, which is standard for free users.
Tayan noted that Zoom nearly doubled its fiscal year 2021 revenue outlook after the Q1 results.
He added that Zoom is very optimistic about the growth potential in the Middle East and plans to expand into Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
