Ivan Kozachenko

Postdoctoral research associate, University of Cambridge
Ivan Kozachenko is a sociologist and postdoctoral research associate at the University of Cambridge. He completed MA (Cum Laude) and a BA in Sociology at the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine. He obtained his PhD in Sociology from the University of Aberdeen, where he was awarded a Target Doctoral Scholarship. The dissertation, ‘Eastern Slavic Diasporas in the UK: the Making of Communities’, explored tensions between national and supra-national identities within post-Soviet diasporas in the United Kingdom and impacts of information and communication technology on community-making practices.

He is currently working on Strand 1 of the AHRC 'Multilingualism: Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies' project.

Ivan’s research focuses on investigating the role of contemporary works of literature, film, and theatre in the online public discourses of opposing sides in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and explores the symbolic role of language therein.

His research interests include diaspora and migration studies, social movements, post-Soviet societies, nationalism and social impacts of information and communication technology.
