I was a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Calgary from 1973 to 2015. My primary areas of teaching and research interest were labour economics (economics of earnings and employment), economics of tort and contract law, and publc economics (primarily government decision-making processes).

From 1988 to 2019, I also operated a consulting business called Economica Ltd that primarily conducted research into factors involving employment and earnings. Some of my work included: advising labour unions in wage negotiations, calculating damages in residential school and sexual abuse cases, assisting divorcing couples with the valuation of child support and alimony, and assessing damages in medical malpractice and personal injury lawsuits.
