Konami’s “Pro Evolution Soccer” franchise is getting an all-new installment – not another ‘Season Update’ – later this year that could be called “eFootball PES 2022.” It appears that the gaming company has also opened the very first performance test for the upcoming game for console players.
It is important to note that what Konami is currently offering is not an actual demo of “eFootball PES 2022.” In its listings on the Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store, the game preview is simply titled “New Football Game Online Performance Test.” Whether that signals another name change is still unclear.
There are no other requirements for console players to join. As long as they have PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, they can join the “eFootball PES 2022” performance test for free. No pre-registration is needed, and they can simply download the preview through the online store links above.
The preview went live on Thursday, June 24, at 12 a.m. UTC or Wednesday, June 23, at 5 p.m. PT. It is slated to run until July 8 at 12 a.m. UTC or July 7 at 5 p.m. PT. However, Konami noted that the test’s run time is “tentative,” so it could be available for a shorter or longer period.
“eFootball PES 2022” is very likely still in development, so console users joining the test should manage their expectations. “The chief goal of the New Football Game Online Performance Test is to assess the stability and connection quality of our servers, as well as the performance of our matchmaking system.” Konami wrote.
Participants are also requested to answer a survey where they will be asked to evaluate a long list of gameplay features in comparison with their “eFootball PES 2021” experience. Some elements Konami wants fans to assess are response times in dribbling, passing, defending, and taking a shot, ease of use of shooting controls, the goalkeeper’s reaction, how referees hand out fouls, how much excitement players feel when scoring, time to find PvP matches, and online connection quality among others.
Konami usually offers an actual demo of the next “eFootball PES” iteration, and that could happen for “eFootball PES 2022” sometime in July. Konami confirmed the game’s official announcement is planned for July 21, but the full version of the game is likely to be released later this year.
