‘Elementary’ season 5’s episode 3, entitled "Render, and Then Seize Her", will featured Holmes learning of a big secret about Paige and may get between her and his friend Captain Gregson. It will also find him working on a new case of a missing woman with Dr. Watson.
The synopsis for episode 3 posted on Carter Matt stated, “Holmes learns a secret about Captain Gregson’s girlfriend when she hires him for a case she wants kept off of Gregson’s radar. Also, Holmes and Watson join the NYPD’s search for an abducted woman.”
It seems that Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) is set to learn of something big enough to unnerve him after Captain Tommy Gregson’s (Aidan Quinn) girlfriend Paige (Virginia Madsen) hires him as a consultant for a case. It would be interesting to know what this big secret would be.
According to Ecumenical News, the information to be divulged may be too tough for Holmes to handle considering he is Captain Gregson’s friend. It remains to be known why Paige is demanding for the secret to be kept from her boyfriend.
It is possible that Paige may disclose her secret illness, multiple sclerosis, which only Dr. Watson (Lucy Liu) knows about. This was reportedly the main reason why Paige broke up with Gregson in the past since she didn’t want him bound to her illness.
The shocking revelation could also be something from Paige’s past. She had to quit her job after being found out that she took some money from the home of a drug dealer during one their raids together with her colleagues. She was free from charges due to her cooperation in the case.
Madsen’s return to the series proves to be an interesting one. It was previously reported on Entertainment Weekly that her character Paige would be Gregson’s love interest for the season. Executive producer Rob Doherty teased, “We’re going to see that relationship continue to evolve and advance.”
Meanwhile, Holmes and Watson will continue their detective adventures while working on a case with the NYPD to find a missing woman. Doherty teased in another interview with Entertainment Weekly that Holmes may notice Watson’s dismay at their continuing work together and this would strain their working relationship.
Doherty said, “In the first episode, Sherlock comments that Watson has seemed, here and there, down in the dumps over the course of the summer. He’s a little concerned. He realizes that soon she will have been a detective longer than she was a sober companion.”
He continued, ‘He’s always said she has something of a professional wanderlust, and he’s concerned that maybe the sadness that he has detected has something to do with the approach of this anniversary. Joan makes it clear that she’s quite happy being a detective, but at the same time, she misses helping people.”
‘Elementary’ is a police procedural drama created by Robert Doherty and is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic detective Sherlock Holmes. The series first premiered on CBS on September 2012 and was commissioned for a fifth season run last March 25, 2016.
Season 5’s episode 3 entitled "Render, and Then Seize Her" is scheduled to air on the network on October 23, 2016.
