Apple’s iOS 12 is about to get an update that will add dozens of new emoji to the software.
In an announcement on Tuesday, Apple confirmed they adding more than 70 new emoji in the upcoming update, and users can check them out right now install the beta of iOS 12.1. Notable new additions include emoji of people with different hairstyles (red, gray, curly) and even an emoji for bald people. Emoji representing sports, food, and animals like the llama, swan, mosquito, and raccoon are added as well.
Meanwhile, Apple seems to be quite happy with the iOS 12 update that went live a few weeks ago. The update is supposed to provide a considerable speed improvement to iPhones and iPads including claims of up to 70% faster swipe to the camera, up to 50% faster keyboard display, and app launch under heavy workload is said to be twice as fast. However, a lot of iPhone and iPad users have been complaining that the iOS 12 update is causing problems with iMessage.
Imessage is now combining two or more contacts into one thread. That means users who have multiple numbers will now find all their messages displayed in a single thread. That should be fine, but somehow threads with different contacts are being merged as well.
“Without question, this issue began when I ‘upgraded’ to iOS12,” said one user. “This issue has been devastating and needs to be resolved ASAP. I depend upon iMessage and can no longer trust/depend on the tool to send messages to the proper person. In the same way, I cannot be sure from whom texts are actually being sent.”
“I have one message thread where I receive messages from both my daughter and my husband,” another user noted. “When I reply it goes to the last person that sent me a message in that thread and not the other person.”
This is a major problem Apple has to solve in iOS 12.
