A new iOS 12 jailbreak has been released by researcher pwn20wnd last month that allowed users to modify their own devices without adhering to the restrictions imposed by Apple. Unfortunately, the version that came out didn’t support devices outfitted with A12 and A12X chips.
That left XS, XS Max, XR, 2018 11-inch iPad Pro, 2019 iPad mini, 2019 iPad Air, and 2019 9-inch iPad Pro to be left behind. However, pwn20wnd announced two days ago that a working iOS 12 jailbreak has finally been completed for the aforementioned devices.
“unc0ver v3.7.0~b1 is NOW OUT with full-fledged A12-A12X support with Cydia and system-wide tweak injection!” the researcher announced on Twitter. It’s important to remember, however, that you should have the 12.4 version to take advantage of this new iOS 12 jailbreak tool.
iOS 12 jailbreak for 12.4.1 version is currently in development
Anything higher or lower than that will not be able to run the exploit. Unfortunately, anyone who wants to downgrade from the 12.4.1 version to the 12.4 version will not be able to since the tech giant disabled the function already. Thus, you’ll just have to wait for a new iOS 12 jailbreak to come out.
The good news is that cybersecurity company ZecOps said last week that they’re currently working on the 12.4.1 version to deliver a working exploit. While ZecOps didn’t provide a specific release date for the upcoming iOS 12 jailbreak, it did say it will arrive in the next few months.
New iOS 12 jailbreak still comes with some risks
If luck would have it, we could be looking at a December release date, although with no official confirmation from the company, it’s best to simply exercise patience for now. As for the newly minted iOS 12 jailbreak for the A12 and A12X chips, testers are already reporting that the program is running smoothly, ValueWalk reported.
For anyone who’s interested in trying out the tool, the official download link can be found here, while pwn20wnd’s Github repository can be found here. As a caveat, the new iOS 12 jailbreak is on its beta version. What’s more, jailbreaking devices also come with risks, so use the tool with caution and be extra careful when downloading anything on your device.
