Recent reports suggest that the iPad and iPad Pro 2020 release date could be imminent. But before the gadgets arrive, here are some of the latest leaks and speculations floating around.
Laptop replacement
Recent reports say that the 2020 iPad Pro will arrive with one long-awaited feature that could make the device a laptop competitor. According to Creative Bloq, the gadget could arrive with its own iPad keyboard with a trackpad.
An unnamed source familiar with the matter said that Apple is getting ready to mass-produce the accessory, which will be handled by its longtime contractor Foxconn Technology. The iPad keyboard with trackpad is expected to be launched with the iPad Pro this year.
2020 iPad Pro case confirms rectangular camera module
Meanwhile, cases for the upcoming 2020 iPad Pro are already available on Amazon, MacRumors reported. This is not surprising since case makers usually scramble to be among the first to offer cases shortly before the actual launch of a gadget.
The iPad Pro 2020 cases being sold on Amazon fit the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. This makes sense since the upcoming version is expected to retain the general design of the current-gen iPad Pro especially when it comes to dimensions and thickness.
What’s different about the new cases is that there is a square-shaped cutout at the back, which is meant to fit the previously leaked square-shaped back camera assembly. The iPad Pro 2020 is expected to feature a triple-lens camera similar to that of the iPhone 11 Pro.
This means that the upcoming gadget will have an ultra-wide sensor as well as a telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom. It will also have a time-of-flight as its third sensor, enabling it to create a 3D map of its vicinity. This could make the device suitable for augmented reality applications.
iPad and iPad Pro 2020 release date
The availability of the cases on Amazon suggests that the iPad Pro 2020 release date is imminent. There are talks that it might be launched at a March 31 event but a safer bet is that it will be out in the first half of 2020.
