‘Supergirl’ season 2’s episode 3 entitled “Welcome to Earth” will featuring Kara going after Mon-El after he awakens from his slumber and escapes. Meanwhile, former ‘Wonder Woman’ actress Lynda Carter is set to make her series debut as the President.
The official synopsis for episode 3 posted on Comicbookmovie.com stated, “An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO are assigned to protect the President and bring in the responsible party. Alex (Chyler Leigh) teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case while Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), who she fears may be the alien behind the assault.”
Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman on the original DC television series, is set to make her much-anticipated debut on the series as President Olivia Marsdin. Judging by the sneak preview photographs, it seems that Carter’s president Marsdin and Benoist’ Kara Danvers a.k.a. Supergirl will have great chemistry as they share the small screen together.
Meanwhile, it seems that Supergirl will be kept busy as the promo featured new menacing aliens attempting to cause more chaos. On top of the powerful threats, Kara will have to find Mon-El, who managed to awaken from his slumber.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg previously teased Kara’s relationship with Mon-El during a previous interview. According to Melty, Kreisberg said, "The last thing Mon-El remembers was being on an alien world and then he jumped into a pod and suddenly he wakes up on a strange world. He's all alone, he's surrounded by people with guns and he's having a reaction. He's reacting to the fact that he suddenly has superpowers, which he wasn't expecting."
He went on to reveal that Kara and Mon-El’s relationship would kick off to a rather rough start. He said, "How that story weaves about and how he and Kara come together by the end is hopefully pretty clever and interesting. We're going to explore - in our universe - the idea that Daxam and Krypton were sister worlds but they didn't really get along.”
Kreisbeg continued, “So there's a lot of innate hostility that Mon-El and Kara have for each other simply because of their backgrounds, which is interesting because Kara's not exactly on her best behavior. We always think Kara is so interesting when she's flawed and [when we get to watch] her learn and grow."
It would be interesting to find out whether Kara would be a rival or a mentor to Mon-El in the subsequent episodes.
‘Supergirl’ season 2’s episode 3, entitled “Welcome to Earth”, is scheduled to premiere on The CW on October 24, 2016. Rachel Talalay directed the episode with a script written by Jessica Queller and Derek Simon.
