AXN's newest crime thriller proved to be successful when Amazon greenlit “Absentia” season 2 for 2019. Fans of the breakout show will be glad to know that even with the mid-year renewal of “Absentia” season 2, the show's star and executive producer, Stana Katic, is already hard at work getting into shape for the upcoming installment.
Rather than a simple announcement letting fans know that the show has started shooting for the upcoming installment, Katic recently posted on Instagram a behind-the-scenes video of herself undergoing training and conditioning with “Absentia” season 2's stunt coordinator, Francois Coetzer.
In the video, fans will notice that Katic is now on site in Bulgaria for “Absentia” season 2's production. Francois Coetzer confirms that he is a locally sourced stunt coordinator for the show, being primarily based in Bulgaria. The amount of conditioning that Katic is undergoing so early in the show's production may open up the possibility that “Absentia” season 2 will be more action-packed than the show's first installment.
Following the story of FBI special agent Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) after her six-year disappearance while pursuing the investigation of a known serial killer, “Absentia” season 2 will pick up the plot after Byrne exacts payback on her abductor, which leads to a whole new web of conspiracies for the upcoming installment to explore. While the show is confirmed for renewal and is now in production, an official air date for “Absentia” season 2 has yet to be announced. Even with the lack of an official air date, the show is confirmed to return through Amazon's Prime streaming service for U.S. broadcasting.
Fans looking forward to the continuation of Agent Byrne's rediscovering of her life can hopefully be treated to an Amazon Prime release of “Absentia” season 2 sometime in 2019.
