Ridiculously convenient turns of events are nothing new in the anime and manga industry, but “Dr. Stone” Chapter 77 might showcase one of the most blatant examples of this. In the previous chapter, it was shown that the supposed “Kingdom of Science” group was caught grossly unprepared by Tsukasa’s attack. This resulted in what can only be described as forced drama in what could have easily been a good battle and shows shonen manga at its worst.
Now, it’s worth recognizing that “Dr. Stone” is aimed at a relatively young audience. However, the manga seems intent on championing the most cringe-worthy aspects of the genre to its most embarrassing degree. In the case of “Dr. Stone” Chapter 76, for example, it almost seems as if the results of the attack were only to induce drama in a forced manner. “Dr. Stone” Chapter 77 is likely to continue this, as well.
As OtakuKart notes, Ukyo is likely done for after the damage that he sustained. However, this never should have been the case, in the first place. There was no excuse for the absolutely pitiful preparation by the Science group for the counterattack that Tsukasa was going to launch. It was almost as if Senku didn’t expect there to be consequences for his actions. “Dr. Stone” Chapter 77 might show that he did, though.
If he did see the attack coming, this would mean that Ukyo’s injury was absolutely unnecessary. Then there’s the matter of how he is even going to handle Tsukasa in “Dr. Stone” Chapter 77. He seems to be biting on something in the last page of the previous chapter. Is this going to be some super convenient plot device that is going to turn things around in his favor?
“Dr. Stone” Chapter 77 will be released on Oct. 4, The Anime Scrolls reports. Fans are advised to expect a serious case of deus ex machina and some pitifully forced drama.
