“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is arriving soon and its first episode will be the series’s 200th. To celebrate this event, the cast and crew gathered on Sept. 14 to slice some cake and cheer with champagnes.
As previously reported, “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 will feature a revival of the show’s very first episode that aired in 1968. It will retain its title, “Cocoon,” and the story will not be changed that much too. In fact, Peter Lenkov will share the writing credits with and the original story writer, Leonard Freeman.
Although “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 1 will have the same title and story, the flow is expected to be different. It will also be like an upgraded version since they have to make it up-to-date.
The pilot will also see the appearance of Wo Fat, a villain and an old enemy of Steve Garrett (Alex O’Loughlin). He had been a nuisance on the Big Island so it is interesting to see how he will return. According to Entertainment Weekly, Mark Dacascos was signed up again to reprise his role.
Meanwhile, there are few cast members who will not be in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 anymore and they include Grace Park. Her departure created controversy, and since leaving the show, she had not formally addressed the issue.
It was said that she left the show due to the disparity in fees. Reports stated that Grace and co-star Daniel Dae Kim found out that Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin, who are also on the show, are actually receiving pays way higher than what they are getting.
While this could really be the cause for her decision to leave, it seems there are other reasons why she did not renew her contract with “Hawaii Five-0.” "There were a number of factors spanning the show that affected the non-renewal of my contract. I'm grateful for the lessons learned, but I chose what was best for my integrity,” CinemaBlend quoted Grace Park as saying.
“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is set to premiere on Sept. 28 via CBS.
