With “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 opening with the super serious rendition of the show's original pilot, “Cocoon,” fans of the show who have been waiting for the upcoming installment may need a reminder about what else makes CBS's police procedural so great.
“Hawaii Five-0” season 9's latest preview trailer is essentially a mish-mash of scenes between Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and Danny Williams (Scott Caan) generally being smart-mouthed and calling each other out hilariously. The trailer itself does not reveal much about the next season's plot, considering that the episode summary for the “Cocoon” premiere episode remake for the show's 50th Anniversary reads pretty seriously.
In a CBS blog post about the “Hawaii Five-0” reboot pilot, it is mentioned that one of the defining moments of the series is the friendship between Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams. Some of the scenes that were discussed include Steve's appropriation of Danny's nickname, which Danny only uses when talking to his daughter. Also, fans would not forget Steve McGarrett's unconventional way of getting a new job care of his future best friend, Danno. Such interactions are still the bread and butter of the show as it moves towards “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 and how the show will keep it alive is an exciting prospect on its own.
Aside from the Steve and Danno dynamic, fans can expect “Mistresses” actress Rochelle Aytes to be introduced as the series's big bad for the next couple of episodes, as well as the guest starring role of Mark Dacascos, who will reprise his role as Wo Fat – a Chinese intelligence operative that supposedly becomes Steve McGarrett's adversary.
Fans of the show looking forward to more shenanigans from Scott McGarrett and Danny Williams can catch “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 returning with its premiere episode on Sept. 28.
