Several factors could explain why the John Krasinski-led “Jack Ryan” TV series adaptation is one of the most popular political thrillers today. One of them is the composition of actors that play other main roles and supporting characters. It is then worth asking who would be joining Krasinski when he returns as the titular hero in “Jack Ryan” season 3.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 could include new and returning cast members
There would be no “Jack Ryan” season 3 without Jack in it, so Krasinski's return to the series is unquestionable. The first two seasons also featured Jack’s great partnership with James Greer, played by Wendell Pierce. It should be noted, though, that Greer had quite a turbulent season 2.
His serious heart ailment become a lesser problem to him when he was kidnapped, brought to a prison camp, and tortured by their enemies. Greer later seemed resolved that he would no longer participate in field operations with Jack, but there has not been any report about Pierce not reprising his role. Greer is most likely coming back, but as to what capacity will he be working with Jack is still a mystery until the release of “Jack Ryan” season 3.
Another very likely actor to reprise his role in “Jack Ryan” season 3 is Michael Kelly, who played as Mike November, the CIA station chief in Venezuela. Mike was an asset to Jack’s mission in season 2 and he made plenty of sacrifices and took many risks to help Jack and Greer. Needless to say, these characters have built enough trust to need Mike back in “Jack Ryan” season 3 as Jack’s new field partner.
The conflict in season 2 is pretty much a closed case, although the writers can bring some aspects of it back if they want. Based on the season 1 and 2 plot patterns, however, Jack is most likely taking over an all-new mission in “Jack Ryan” season 3 that will call for the introduction of new cast members to play as his new enemies and potential allies.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 release date further delayed by COVID-19
Fans of the political thriller will have to be patient about “Jack Ryan” season 3, though. New episodes are unlikely to arrive in Prime Video in quite some time, especially now that the production timeline has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Jack Ryan” season 3 is almost certainly not going to premiere this year. A release date in 2021 is possible, but it would still depend on when Krasinski and the rest of the cast could start filming before 2020 ends.
