John Krasinski’s involvement in the production of “Jack Ryan” season 3 goes beyond just being the star of the show. With another showrunner change reported recently, the actor is also said to be helping out on building the scripts for the next installment of the political thriller.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 filming might not start anytime soon
The second season of Amazon Prime Video’s take on Tom Clancy’s popular “Jack Ryan” franchise was another success accumulating more than 7 million viewers in the United States in its opening week alone. It goes to show that the Amazon-owned streaming service made the right choice to order “Jack Ryan” season 3 in advance.
While the release of “Jack Ryan” season 3 has been confirmed even before season 2 premiered, the timeline for its production remains tentative. Adjustments may have also been needed following reports earlier this month that “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring has left as showrunner.
On the bright side, it appeared that “Jack Ryan” season 3 immediately found a new showrunner with “Star Trek: Discovery” executive producer Vaun Wilmott stepping up. The same reports suggest that the taping for the third season has already started with Wilmott and Krasinski working together to write the scripts of Jack’s next mission.
This development, while a bit of good news in general, also implies that the actual production or the filming of “Jack Ryan” season 3 is unlikely to start soon. And that could greatly affect the schedule of the show’s return.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 possible release date: What to expect
Many fans obviously want to see where Jack is headed next within 2020. Without any official word about “Jack Ryan” season 3’s release date, that may still be counted as one of the possibilities.
If fans would look into the months that elapsed between the reported start and end of filming of season 1 and 2, however, it is easy to deduce that a 2020 release date seems unlikely for “Jack Ryan” season 3. If the scripts are still in the development phase at this point, that only leaves Krasinski, Wilmott, and the rest of the cast and crew with only 11 months to complete production and post-production, which have taken more than a year to be fulfilled in the history of the show.
