Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have been together for more than a year now and their relationship seems to be stronger than ever. The couple also often describes themselves as soulmates and twins because they have many similarities and can understand each other in a way that only the two of them can.
They are obviously serious with their relationship. But why are they not engaged yet? Don’t they have any plans of tying the knot since they are very compatible with each other?
According to Australia’s Woman’s Day (via Gossip Cop), it is not because they do not want to get married, but the problem is that Alex Rodriguez has not proposed yet. As for the reason why the former MLB player is not popping the question, it is alleged that he simply can’t afford to do so.
According to the report, it is about money. Alex Rodriguez is reportedly losing millions and this is why he can’t afford to buy an engagement ring for Jennifer Lopez.
Alex and his former wife, Cynthia Scurtis, divorced in 2008 and the child and spousal support is said to be draining the former’s bank account. It is said that the sportsman is paying a total of $115,000 per month and this excludes other hefty fees from his divorce case.
When Alex Rodriguez retired from playing in the major league in 2016, it was noted that he requested lower child and spousal support payouts since his income significantly decreased after his retirement. He reportedly offered to give just $20,000 a month since this is all that he can afford now.
It is alleged that his current financial situation also affected his proposal plans to Jennifer Lopez. Woman’s Day stated that Alex can’t get down on his knees because, with his diminishing fortune, he cannot fulfill J-Lo’s wedding dreams.
“J-Lo has suffered a setback on any wedding dreams because of her boyfriend’s dwindling fortune,” an insider supposedly told WD. “Alex needs to get this mess figured out. He wants to go all-out with a knockout ‘yes’ ring that will cost him millions and the nuptials will set him back another fortune, too.”
Gossip Cop is debunking this story because it can confirm that the report is false. It explained that Alex Rodriguez is worth around $300 million and no one can say that he is broke with that amount. Moreover, the fact-checking site pointed out that he and J-Lo bought a $15.3 million apartment in New York earlier this year and if he can afford to buy this, he certainly can buy his girlfriend any diamond engagement ring.
In fact, the real reason why Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are not engaged yet is that they are simply not in a hurry to get married. They want to enjoy this moment first and build their relationship more before finally settling down.
"We have to take our time," J-Lo told Amy Robach during her interview on ABC News's "Good Morning America." "I've made plenty of mistakes in my past and we're mature now.”
