McDonald’s tests vegan ice cream flavors, Choco Scoop and Strawberry Scoop, in select UK restaurants, earning praise from fans and hinting at a US debut.
Vegan Ice Cream Trial in the UK
For the sweetest of reasons, McDonald's is transitioning to a plant-based diet. McDonald's is now conducting tests on two new vegan ice cream alternatives, which are Choco Scoop and Strawberry Scoop. Customers who do not consume dairy will be pleased to learn this news.
On the other hand, there is a pretty significant catch to consider before you rush out to your neighborhood Mickey D's to sample the frozen delight. According to Delish, the Choco Scoop and the Strawberry Scoop are currently only available at a limited number of McDonald's restaurants in the United Kingdom presently.
Fortunately, the new additions are already receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from clients per MSN, which means that a trial run in the United States might be a possibility in the not-too-distant future.
Fans Praise New Flavors
Earlier this week, a customer posted on Reddit that they had described the dish on the menu as "a cross between soft serve and regular ice cream." They also mentioned that the chocolate flavor left them feeling "impressed" in a significant way.
One user, who described the dish as "very tasty," went on to say the following: "I tried it today too! Was a total surprise to me when I looked at the menu boards. I tried the chocolate version which just tasted like a cold chocolate mousse but was very tasty."
Ice Cream Packaged in Tubs
In addition, it was disclosed by a different Redditor that the vegan ice creams are packaged in tubs and are not distributed from an ice cream machine. Therefore, there is no need to be concerned about the impending threat of ice cream machines breaking down.
The test run for the Choco Scoop and Strawberry Scoop is scheduled to conclude on September 3. It remains to be seen whether or not they will be released in the United States.
