'NCIS' Season 16 Air Date, Spoilers: What Are Mark Harmon's Costars Wilmer Valderrama and Brian Dietzen Doing in Jail?

Image via CBS

Wilmer Valderrama, who plays NCIS special agent Nick Torres, recently posted a teaser for “NCIS” season 16 on Instagram that featured his character and Brian Dietzen's Jimmy Palmer together in a jail cell.

The humorous nature of the post – with Valderrama blaming Jimmy Palmer for the two ending up in a jail cell – may point towards a non-serious matter rather than a life-threatening event in “NCIS” season 16 that ends with Torres and Palmer in a jail cell. The two may have been involved in a scuffle or a brawl as evidenced by the paint on Palmer's shirt, as well as the bruise underneath Torres's left eye. Valderrama recently posted another photo which confirms the bruise under his left eye – dubbing the hit a “lucky shot.”

While Torres may be expected to get into the occasional brawl due to his more physical nature, Dietzen's Jimmy Palmer looks to be an anomaly in a jail cell. NCIS's chief medical examiner would have to have done something particularly bad or something that can be considered such a nuisance to be put into a jail cell with the likes of Nick Torres.

Fans will remember that “NCIS” season 16 will not be starting directly after the season 15 finale cliffhanger. Season 16 will start a month after Director Leon Vance's (Rocky Carroll) abduction by Nigel Hakim (Pej Vahdat). The little teaser posted by Valderrama can point towards an “NCIS” team frustrated at the seams of not being able to pursue Hakim's lead. While a definite downer for fans of the show, at least the “NCIS” heroes aren't in peril yet.

Fans of the CBS's crime drama who just can't wait to unpack why Valderrama's Torres and Dietzen's Palmer are in prison can look forward to “NCIS” season 16 broadcasting its premiere episode on Sept. 25.
