SPC Group, which owns Paris Baguette, aims to boost its brand image in the United States thus, it has made its first move to achieve this goal. It will offer training for baking and donating food in New York.

For this, Paris Baguette recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) and the government of New York City to open internship opportunities for residents while also supporting minorities and businesses of women in the city.

As per The Korea Economic Daily, the agreement was signed at the Manhattan location of Paris Baguette last week. The event was attended by NYC’s Mayor Eric Adams, SPC Group’s president Hur Jin Soo; AMCHAM’s chairman and chief executive officer, James Kim; commissioner of NYC Department of Small Business Services, Kevin Kim; and NYC’s commissioner for international affairs, Edward Alexander Mermelstein.

They have agreed to join forces to promote economic growth by offering internship opportunities for local residents. This will also provide support to Minority & Women Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE).

Paris Baguette will manage the internship program, and it will offer baking lessons and actual work practice to participants. The bakery chain will also follow it up with career development opportunities, including employment. The Korean company will also donate food to five towns in New York to help locals in need.

"Paris Baguette will become a pillar of the local community in New York City," Paris Baguette’s president Hur Jin Soo said in a statement. "Our company will provide diverse support and opportunities to help women and socially disadvantaged individuals grow as future leaders."

Korea Joongnang Daily also quoted New York City Mayor Eric Adams as saying, “This agreement with Paris Baguette will help create jobs and opportunity throughout the five boroughs, support the creation of youth internships that will build career skills and job readiness, and develop a food donation program for New Yorkers in need across our city.”
