‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5 News, Air Date: Show Moved to BBC One, Production Underway, Movie Spinoff Rumored

Considered one of the most intriguing British crime dramas around, the news that a “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 is coming has sent fans to Cloud 9. Production is reportedly underway, and not only has the series been moved to a bigger channel in BBC One, there are also rumors of a movie being made. As for who will be returning, it would seem like most of the main cast members are back on board.

As Radio Times reports, the decision to move the show over to BBC One for “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 was explained to be due to its sheer awesomeness. Director of BBC Content Charlotte Moore has explained that the decision was fueled by the network wanting to expose the series to an even bigger crowd.

“Peaky Blinders is world class drama at the top of its game and the time has arrived for it to move to the UK’s biggest channel. Steven Knight’s epic storytelling is authentic and utterly compelling and I want to give it the chance to be enjoyed by an even broader audience on BBC One,” Moore had explained.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better response to series four and the impact it had with young audiences. This move will also give BBC Two more creative headroom to experiment with new drama.”

Production for “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 is officially underway and among the cast members who will be returning are Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Sophie Rundle, and Helen McCrory. Aidan Gillen has also been confirmed to reprise his role as Aberama Gold, along with Jack Rowan, who will be playing his son, Bonnie.

Fans are also rejoicing with regards to reports that a movie might be in the works alongside “Peaky Blinders” Season 5. Although nothing has been confirmed, both the cast and the series creator have been publicly discussing the possibility.

As for the premiere date of the “Peaky Blinders” Season 5, nothing official has been announced, OK! U.K. notes. However, Summer 2019 is the likeliest candidate.
