A leak supposedly revealing the features and specs of the next Galaxy Buds product recently emerged online. While a price increase is likely part of the plan, it might be justified by some of the rumored upgrades, including improved active noise cancellation and IP rating.
Samsung Galaxy Buds name change linked to improved features?
Those who have only started checking out reports about the next Galaxy Buds recently might end up confused. The leaks pointing to the release of the wireless earbuds have been claiming that Samsung will opt for another name change. After ditching the “Galaxy Buds+” brand for “Galaxy Buds Live,” the latter is not expected to make a comeback as the upcoming product is reportedly getting called the Galaxy Buds Pro.
The use of “Pro” might also have something to do with the reported features of the device. Galaxy Buds Pro will not be the first Samsung wireless earbuds to offer active noise cancellation, but it is rumored to undergo several improvements.
Leaks provided by WalkingCat mentions that the Galaxy Buds Pro would sport “Intelligent Active Noise Cancelling” features. It mainly features different ANC options, including noise cancellation with “level control,” an ambient sound setting, and a “Conversation Mode.” ANC is one of the biggest selling points for true wireless earbuds, and Samsung’s first attempt at it had some areas that can be improved, according to multiple reviews of the Galaxy Buds Live. So aside from the more flexible settings, Galaxy Buds Pro’s basic ANC function of tuning out the noise from the user’s surroundings is something to anticipate.

Another notable feature listed in the leaks from the same source is a significant improvement in Galaxy Buds Pro’s water-resistance capabilities. From the IPX2 rating on the Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live, the Galaxy Buds Pro is rumored to be certified with an IPX7 rating, which would mean the device can be put under one-meter-deep water for 30 minutes and not sustain damages.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro release date, price
The features mentioned above are just a few of the rumored improvements on Galaxy Buds Pro. It is then not surprising that the device is also reportedly getting a price increase and would be available for $199 upon launch, per the same leaker.
A release date was not mentioned in the leaks, but it is worth noting that Samsung is expected to host an Unpacked event in January where the Galaxy S21 series will be likely announced. With this much Galaxy Buds Pro information already in the rumor mill, there is a chance for the wireless earbuds to be launched in the same event.
