‘Scream’ season 2 continues to follow Emma’s emotional struggle with trying to deal with her own family as well as running from a new killer. In episode 3, entitled “Vacancy”, she realizes that her father Kevin has secrets of his own.
The synopsis posted on Carter Matt stated, “Emma deals with her father’s return; Audrey’s stalker graduates from fun and games to murder; and Branson returns to Lakewood, causing Brooke to question his intentions.”
Emma’s (Willa Fitzgerald) reunion with her estranged father doesn’t seem to be going well. Like her mother Maggie (Tracy Middendorf), Kevin (Tom Everett Scott) seems to be hiding some heavy secrets of his own. In the promo, a distraught Maggie is seen demanding some answers from Kevin. She asks, “Why’d you have to leave me?” He answers, “I can’t explain that.”
The upcoming episode will find Emma struggling with her own emotional family issues while a killer is still out on the loose. By the end of the promo, Emma is seen walking into a room as she calls out her dad.
It may be that a confrontation in the motel will finally get her the answers she needs. She could also end up finding the new Brandon James killer instead.
According to International Business Times, episode 3 is titled after the 2007 horror film of the same name starring Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale. It followed a couple on the verge of divorce as they are forced to spend the night in a motel, where they are tormented by masked men. It’s possible that the upcoming episode will be rife with references from the original film.
Meanwhile, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) is left with Jake’s (Tom Maden) dead body in an abandoned warehouse. The preceding episodes saw Jake attacked by a new murderer and eventually killed with a scythe.
The letter pinned to his chest reads, “See how I finished the job for you, Audrey?” She is terrified as she wails at her stalker on the phone. It seems that the killer knows her connection with Piper (Amelia Rose Blaire) is out to frame her.
Finally, a familiar character will be returning to Lakewood. Mr. Branson (Bobby Campo) resurfaces after disappearing following accusations of murder.
However, his return triggers feelings of unease in Brooke (Carlson Young) since the two engaged in a scandalous secret relationship in the past. Brooke also questions his intentions especially since his reappearance was timed perfectly with Jake’s murder.
‘Scream’ season 2’s episode 3 is scheduled to premiere on MTV on June 13, 2016.
