“Shameless” Season 9 Episode 1 is just right around the corner, but fans are already getting depressed before the show’s new season has even premiered. This is because of the announcement that Emmy Rossum who plays Fiona Gallagher in the show just made. The actress made it clear that this is going to be her last season. As such, fans may want to savor the increased episode count this time.
“Shameless” Season 9 Episode 1 is scheduled for premiere in just a few days and this season has been increased to 14. It has been split into two parts, as well, with the first ending on Oct. 21, TV Line reports. This means that there is a lot more of Fiona Gallagher and her family to go around. Fans are advised to enjoy these upcoming episodes and appreciate their antics for as long as possible.
As to why Emmy Rossum has decided that “Shameless” Season 9 Episode 1 is the beginning of the end for her character, the reasons are left vague. However, in her lengthy message to fans posted on Facebook, it can be inferred that she simply needs a change in environment.
"This business is always an adventure, full of travel and opportunities to tell stories. Usually as an actor, every few months, you travel to a new place, start a new project, build a new character, learn new rhythms, new inside jokes with your crew, make new friends," the post reads. "I know you will continue on without me, for now. There is much more Gallagher story to be told. I will always be rooting for my family. Try not to think of me as gone, just think of me as moving down the block."
“Shameless” Season 9 Episode 1 is scheduled to air on Sept. 9 on Showtime. Fans will want to be ready for that day and every day that follows until the season ends. It is Fiona’s last, after all.
