Unfortunately, some important patches are not yet ready for release at the time of the official launch of “Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA” on the Nintendo Switch this week.

In a blog post on Monday, the game’s worldwide publisher, NIS America, detailed the set of patches they are going to release for the game. While a couple of updates will be all set upon the official launch, some important adjustments will be added only a few weeks later.

Upon the release of “Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA” on the hybrid portable console, versions 1.01 and 1.02 are all set to go live as well. Patch 1.01 adds support for the Nintendo Switch auto-sleep function while both updates are also going to apply fixes for known crash issues, “some aesthetic issues,” and text adjustments.

It can be recalled that many of the game’s early reviews were filled with complaints about errors in translation and in the localization aspect just about a week before “Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA” goes live on the Switch.

NIS America also confirmed that patches 1.03 and 1.04 are already in the first round of testing. Patch 1.03’s description only stated that it will add more text refinements to the game. So this particular patch is likely a completion of the previous patches resolving early known issues in translations.

Patch 1.04, on the other hand, has a direct effect on the gameplay cutscenes as it brings Japanese Voice Implementation and aesthetic refinements to “Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA.” And considering that the title is within the action role-playing genre, these kinds of adjustments are important to achieve a more immersive gaming experience.

However, players will have to wait until mid-July for the 1.04 release.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA” on the Switch will feature main protagonist Adol, who wakes up stranded on an isolated island. While fighting monsters and saving other survivors from the shipwreck, Adol will also have to solve the mystery of a “blue-haired maiden” whom he has been dreaming about since he got stuck on the island.

The Nintendo Switch game is officially out on Tuesday, June 26.
