It has been almost two years since fans saw Song Hye Kyo in a drama. She has not been active since tvN’s “Encounter” concluded in January 2019.
Song Hye Kyo was paired with Park Bo Gum and that was her last project prior to her divorce from Song Joong Ki. Now it was reported that she is considering taking the offer for a lead role in the drama titled “Now, We Are Breaking Up.”
Hye Kyo’ possible comeback project
The role was offered to Song Hye Kyo after it was turned down by Soo Ae. She reviewed the project as early as June but then, she did not accept in the end because the delay of the drama caused a conflict in her schedule.
“With production delayed due to COVID-19, an issue has occurred with scheduling,” a rep from Soo Ae’s management agency, Santa Claus Entertainment, told Newsen. “Therefore, she, unfortunately, is unable to join the cast.”
Previously, it was also reported that actor Yoo Tae Oh also rejected the offer for a reason that was not stated. At any rate, if Song Hye Kyo decided to do this project, it will end her hiatus from the drama world.
About the drama
Song Hye Kyo’s character in “Now, We Are Breaking Up” would be Ha Young Eun, the head of a fashion design team in a big company. She is smart, values hard work, and always updated with the trends.
As the title suggests, the drama is about a couple who is about to break up. While it was not mentioned, it seems that the lead is putting work first before her relationship so she is on the verge of splitting up with her boyfriend because of her demanding job as a fashion designer.
It should be noted though that Song Hye Kyo has not accepted the project yet. United Artist, the actress’ agency, said that their artist is reviewing the drama positively.
The possible Song Hye Kyo-led drama “Now, We Are Breaking Up” will be directed by Lee Gil Bok who also helmed previous hit dramas such as “Vagabond” and “My Love from Another Star.” Finally, the story was written by Je In.
