Ildy Modrovich, the showrunner of Lucifer, assured fans that Tom Ellis will stay as Lucifer should Netflix push through with a season 6 for the series.
Modrovich seemingly made the confirmation by quoting a tweet that says Ellis replacement is the joke of the day.
He then accompanied his tweet with "Bwahahaha" which gives the impression that the news is certainly nothing to worry about.
According to Digital Spy, fans got worried when news circulated that Ellis will be replaced by Ian Somerhalder who became known for his role as Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries.
Fans were also crushed earlier when news came out that Ellis' contract negotiations with Warner Bros. Television were not going well.
However, Express reported that Ellis is finally on board for season 6 should it received a go signal from Netflix.
Netflix had previously announced that Lucifer season 5 would be the end of the series but recent reports had the streaming service seemingly interested in having a go for another season.
Probably because of the increased interest for season 5, the finale of which has been delayed by the film and TV production shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Although, California has already allowed productions to resume last June 12, there has been no news of when Lucifer season 5 will resume filming for its season finale.
Filming will also take longer than it did previously as production teams are supposed to follow protocols set for the continued fight against the coronavirus disease.
Protocols such as the wearing of masks and social distancing must be strictly followed thus people on the set will have to be limited and filming hours should also be shortened, which would mean increasing the number of days for the shooting.
Hopefully, Lucifer season 5 could stay on track for its 2020 release date.
