My research aims at improving children's health and nutritional status by improving health communication and supporting parents in the mammoth task of raising healthy children. My PhD project investigated the influence of the marketing of toddler milks on attitudes and beliefs about infant feeding in Australia using a Social Marketing framework and drawing on my background in Applied Philosophy (Ethics). Since 2014, I have been applying my knowledge and skills in research, counselling, communication and professional education to a broad set of child health challenges.
I am currently working on a project that will develop a suite of tools and resources to help health professionals communicate more effectively with parents about childhood vaccinations. I am also working with the South Asian Infant Feeding Research Network to identify and test effective interventions to improve maternal and child nutrition in the region. Both of these undertakings recognise the value of mothers to child health.
