Upper and back pain can be anywhere from slight pains to severe pains. The problem is even worst when you can’t tell the source of the pain. On the other hand, you can never solve a problem effectively without dealing with its cause. That means you need to know what is causing the pain to be able to deal with it effectively. For example, how you sleep, lack of exercise, poor posture, and injury among others may result to upper and middle back pains.
Identifying these causes helps to determine effective ways to alleviate these pains. One sure way is by improving your way of sleeping, doing exercise that favors back pains, practicing a good posture, and taking good care of an injured back.
1. Improving How You Sleep
While many people do not get concerned with what they are sleeping on or the pillow they are using, using the right mattress and pillow is one great way of alleviating upper and middle back pain. That is why the associated blog along with the matter Free Your Spine says that a good pillow can help relieve back pain thus allowing you to experience one great sleep all night long.
You see, according to your sleeping position, a good pillow helps you to sleep comfortably in your favorite position till morning. Not only so, but also preventing the upper and back pains. Remember to change your mattress, too, after several years or when need be.
2. Do Exercise And Stretch Your Back
You should stretch your back to make it flexible as well as strong. On the other hand, you will be loosening your muscles. This way, you get to lower or prevent the upper back pain. Why? The large muscles found around the shoulders contribute significantly to the upper back pain you experience.
Again, exercising helps the middle area of your back by strengthening the muscles that support that lower back part.
Fei Jiang, of Santa Monica of Saint John’s Health Center’s recommends the stretching of the body as well as exercising. He says that by stretching and making body movement, you help relax any tight muscles as well as improve circulation. In return, you help nourish the spine which is achieved when your muscles relax thus preventing the back and middle pain.
3. Practice Good Posture
I have had severe upper back pain due to poor posture. The pain can be so severe that you cannot do a thing until you treat or reduce it through medication or any natural way. For example, I realized, practicing a good posture is one quick and effective way to alleviate as well as avoid such cases again.
Let me explain. Any time you sit, make sure you balance your body weight on both sides by having your feet flat on the ground. Also, ensure that are sitting uprightly. Avoid straining your shoulders so as not to cause upper and back pains.
4. Massage
People think massage is meant for the first class people, but no, that is not true. In fact, the people who need massage are those who think they do not qualify because of their standard of living. The truth is, while everyone needs a body massage, people who do odd jobs, office jobs like typing, driving all, needs a massage because of the fatigue their backs get exposed to each day.
During a massage, your upper and middle back gets relieved from any pain. However, for better results, do massage regularly.
5. Change Your Lifestyle
Most people suffer from upper and middle back pains due to eating the wrong foods. You need to change your lifestyle by eating foods that are rich in calcium so as to strengthen your muscles as well as your bones. That, therefore, means that your daily meal should always have some green vegetables such as spinach. Fish and other foods that are rich in calcium should also be a priority.
The Parting Point
None of the ways discussed above refers to taking medication, not even in the case of an injury. That doesn’t mean that you should never take medicine when injured or when need be. What this means is that these ways are effective enough to help you alleviate any upper and middle back pain.
And taking each of them seriously is taking your back health seriously today and in the days to come.
