About half the emails to one Labour MP’s office now involve some form of AI, as UK institutions contend with a broader rise in related correspondence, The Guardian reported.

Hollie Wickens, a senior caseworker in the office, said the volume had increased since 2024. “It started as a trickle in 2024 and now it’s an onslaught,” she told The Guardian.

The Guardian also reported that AI-related material is reaching local authorities, lawyers and schools, alongside MPs’ offices. The correspondence includes complaints, requests and legal challenges.

Wickens said AI-related correspondence adds time to her team’s work on complaints and requests.
