The new AMD Navi-based graphics cards are expected to be unveiled in the coming months. One of them is the rumored Radeon RX 3080 XT based on the Navi 10 architecture in 7-nanometer. New reports have it that the AMD Navi-based Radeon RX 3080 XT will match the technical specs of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2070 but would be almost 50 percent cheaper.
Various sources released the list of leaked specs of Radeon RX 3080 XT reportedly to be released under the AMD Navi family. Its GPU cores are listed at 3,584 with a memory capacity of 8GB of GDDR6 and a thermal design power (TDP) of around 190W.
The currently available GeForce RTX 2070 has comparable technical specs. But what could set AMD Navi’s Radeon RX 3080 XT apart from Nvidia’s product is its pricing. It is reported that the upcoming GPU from AMD could be priced at $330 while its Nvidia counterpart is being sold at $599.
Given that the GeForce RTX 2070 has been in the market for a while now, TweakTown suggests that the very competitive pricing of the upcoming AMD Navi graphics card might not be too much of a threat. However, Nvidia might have to issue a major discount.
The pricing rumors are not that surprising given that AMD already confirmed they want to release new Navi-based GPUs with a lower price range. “From a positioning standpoint, I probably won't go through it in great detail right now. But it will be positioned below where, for example, our Radeon VII's is position today from a price point standpoint,” AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a recent financial briefing (via Seeking Alpha).
Meanwhile, AMD is still mum about the new leaked details on Navi-based GPUs. The company is expected to maintain that until the anticipated presentation of new graphics cards at E3 2019 in early June. Su has also confirmed, “Things are progressing well. We expect it to launch in the third quarter.”
