If there’s any doubt that the AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor line up has overtaken Intel’s chips, those have been put to rest now. Pitting the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X against the Intel Core i9-9900K on Cinebench, for instance, and one would see the disparity between both chips.
For the Cinebench R20 multi-core test, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X yielded a figure of 7,0686 while the Intel Core i9-9000K was only at 4,894. However, the single core performance test on both processors got both evenly match with a 509 to 509 result.
What’s more, Geekbench 4 single core test gave the i9-9900K a 5,976 result, while the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X was at 5,376. AMD has been lagging behind Intel in single core performance, and it appears the company still has room for growth on this front, Gizmodo reported. Of course, the strength of AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processors lies in its ability to do massive tasks with efficient results and less power consumption.
AMD Ryzen Zen 2’s strength is at its 7nm/12nm architecture and core/threat count
This is due to the sheer number of cores fitted within the AMD Ryzen Zen 2 line up and its nm architecture, especially for the Threadrippers and the Ryzen 9 3900X. Where both processors have 12 cores/24 thread count, the i9-9900K only has 8 cores/16 threads. The Ryzen 9 3900X and the i9-9900K is roughly the same price at around $500.
Choosing between both is a no-brainer, especially for gamers who use their rig at an extensive rate not only for titles with heavy graphics but also for streaming, recording, firing up Twitch, and talking to their friends on Discord. And that’s not counting their need to edit and create content for their audiences to consume. Put simply, the AMD Ryzen Zen 2 lineup is overtaking Intel in process-technology and is touted to remain on top for years to come. Semi-conductor analyst Mathew Ramsay are among those who are supporting this narrative.
Analysts favoring AMD Ryzen Zen 2
“Our team attended CEO Lisa Su’s Computex keynote Monday in Taipei that highlighted several 7nm products set to launch over the next six months across all of AMD’s served markets. We anticipate these products will drive above-consensus growth, share gains, margin expansion, and AMD share appreciation,” Ramsay said. Having said all of these, there’s no doubt that Intel is already gearing up to respond to the AMD Ryzen Zen 2. How that will translate, however, remains to be seen.
