French industrial gases giant Air Liquide and airport operator Groupe ADP join forces to inaugurate Hydrogen Airport, a pioneering joint venture aimed at integrating hydrogen technology at 200 global airports. The collaboration aims to prepare these hubs for hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by 2035.
Hydrogen Airport has already launched with a leadership team and will initially focus on approximately 200 airports worldwide where the integration of hydrogen projects is likely. The venture combines Air Liquide's expertise in hydrogen technology with Groupe ADP's experience in airport infrastructure and operations.
The Hydrogen Airport's services range from volume estimation to cost analysis, aiming to prepare airports for the first predicted arrival of hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by 2035. The joint venture was created after consultation with Airbus on feasibility studies concerning introducing hydrogen planes in 30 global airports.
Hydrogen Airport is set on initiating change among around 200 airports within current or future hydrogen hubs worldwide. Their joint venture is a formidable alliance between Air Liquide's expertise in hydrogen and Groupe ADP's expertise in airport infrastructure and operations.
Air Liquide leverages its profound expertise in producing low-carbon or renewable hydrogen, liquefaction, and dependable distribution of hydrogen for aircraft. Meanwhile, Groupe ADP brings its extensive airport infrastructure knowledge to the mix, ensuring smooth airport operations.
This alliance aims to bring efficient hydrogen-powered aircraft to life. They will estimate hydrogen volumes over time, optimize logistics based on airport-specific requirements, conduct preliminary safety and carbon impact studies, perform cost analysis, and develop investment roadmaps. Ultimately, they aim to support airports in building their infrastructure and preparing for the arrival of this innovation by 2035.
In 2021, Airbus and Hydrogen Airport joined forces to tackle the challenge of introducing hydrogen planes to approximately 30 airports worldwide. This partnership showcases a shared goal of preparing for the rollout of carbon-free aviation on a global scale.
But that's not all. Hydrogen Airport offers a comprehensive range of services to address the many challenges of implementing hydrogen energy, including volume estimation, logistics optimization, preliminary safety and carbon impact studies, cost analysis, and roadmap development.
Hydrogen Airport's initial efforts will focus on around 200 international and regional airports located in current or future hydrogen hubs across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. Join us today and become part of the solution for a healthier planet.
