Will there be “Alita: Battle Angel 2?” Based on the available information, James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez are already working on it. They revealed that they have plans for the sequel even before the first movie was released so it is likely that the second movie installment is happening.
What’s more, fans will definitely rejoice as the two executives also hinted that their plan is not just for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” but they are actually preparing for a trilogy which means three movies in all!
James Cameron and director Rober Rodriguez’s plans were disclosed via an interview with Digital Spy. "Well, we obviously have a plan for that," Rodriguez told the outlet.
Then he added that they have the outlines for the “Alita: Battle Angel 2” and he just needs to review and sort them out first as Cameron is still busy with his “Avatar” movie series. He went on to explain that the materials for the next movies were sent to him by Cameron and these notes are going to be divided for the trilogy.
“He (Cameron) told me he will not send all the 1,000 pages of notes but I’ll send you like 600," Rodriguez said. "There's like one whole document about the trilogy because that's just part of his process. Here are three movies. Just so you know what to include in the first story and whatnot.”
Then again, the filming for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is not yet determined as James Cameron is focused on “Avatar” right now. Once he is free, he and Rodriguez will start the production. Meanwhile, “Alita: Battle Angel” is now available in 3D Blu-ray and 4K HDR as per Forbes and they are still on sale so fans can grab this chance to purchase the digital version of the movie.
