‘American Horror Story’ co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy teased that a season 1 character may reappear in a “bizarre” planned crossover event expected to be released in future seasons. Meanwhile, series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have been cast to return in season 7.
Murphy teased the complexities of the upcoming crossover season during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said, “It’s a character from season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy… And then all of those characters will intertwine, which is confusing because some of them are from seasons 1 and 3. Like, Sarah Paulson will probably be playing 18 characters.”
Murphy previously revealed at the EW PopFest in Los Angeles that he was planning a season that will be a mash-up of preceding seasons, specifically of ‘Murder House’ and ‘Coven,’ which he described as “bizarre.”
Emmy award-winning actress Sarah Paulson was cast in the incoming seventh season of the popular horror-anthology series earlier this month together with co-star Evan Peters. Murphy announced the casting for season 7 at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena, California. Season 7 is also reportedly set in the modern times and is linked to ‘Freak Show.’
According to Digital Spy, season 7’s theme was hinted at with prolonged footage of a wooden ship in season 6. Speculations of an ocean theme was further fueled with the release of a GIF containing visuals of ocean waves spliced with footage of creepy stick dolls through the series’ official account. However, no details of season 7’s theme have been released as of the present.
‘American Horror Story’ is an anthology horror television series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Each season is a contained miniseries with special themes and settings as well as a varied cast of characters. The seventh season was renewed last October 4, 2016.
