The custody case between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may very well be settled outside of court and both stars are supposedly willing to cover the expenses of such proceeding. They also filed for an extension of the case until June 30, 2019, with retired Judge John Ouderkirk as a temporary "private" official to oversee the settlement, USA Today reported.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie still couldn’t find middle ground how to determine their negotiation as the former wants 50/50 custody while latter wants full. The average Joe and Janes who have been closely following the case are wondering which of the two are going to win this impasse.
There’s also the lingering question whether or not the kids of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have any say on the matter. California Family Law Attorney David T. Pisarra explained that some of the kids who are old enough to argue their case are allowed by the court to do so, Radar Online reported.
To be precise, those kids are Maddox, 17, and Pax, 14. However, while Maddox can absolutely argue his case, Pax might not have the same freedom that his older brother has even though he’s of age. This is due to the fact that the court wants to avoid involving the kids as much as possible. There’s also the factor of where Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie wants to settle down.
Attorney Pisarra explains that a judge typically wants the children to “live in the same place they were raised.” Right now, if Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie couldn’t find middle ground regarding the case until next month, a judge will make that decision for them.
Obviously, the ex-couple doesn’t want that to occur hence the filing of an extension and the hiring of a private judge. Hopefully, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can finally agree on what’s the best course moving forward and successfully co-parent their six children similar to what Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are doing.
