While the Apple iPad Pro 2020 release date has not been officially announced yet, tech watchers believe that it’s long overdue and would likely arrive this year. Here’s what recent reports say about the upcoming gadget.
mmWave 5G Connectivity
The Apple iPad Pro 2020 is expected to feature 5G support, according to MacRumors. There are three types of 5G connectivity but the mmWave, also known as millimeter wave, is the fastest 5G there is.
The 5G antenna component for the iPad will be supplied by Taiwanese firm Advanced Semiconductor Engineering. However, there are speculations that only the Pro variant of the upcoming iPad might feature a mmWave 5G support considering the high cost of the component.
MiniLED Display
While Apple has been tinkering with the possibility of introducing MicroLED displays into its devices, there are those who believe that it may not yet arrive in the upcoming Apple iPad Pro 2020. The reason for this is that microLED displays are hard to make and super expensive to produce as well.
However, the iPod Pro 2020 is still expected to arrive with an improved display compared to the current-gen model. Instead of a microLED, it will feature a miniLED display, which is somewhere in between the OLED and the microLED in terms of luminance, contrast, power-efficiency, and flexibility.
Improved Camera, Chips
As previously reported, the Apple iPad Pro 2020 is expected to feature a back camera assembly similar to the iPhone 11. Thus, it will have a high-resolution main camera, an ultra-wide camera, a telephoto sensor with a 2X optical zoom capability. However, there are also reports stating that a ToF lens might be replacing one of the lenses.
There are a lot of speculations about its chips. Some say that the iPad Pro 2020 will feature an A13X Bionic chip but Tech Radar also reported that it may arrive with the A14X chipset. Either way, both chips represent a drastic improvement over the A12 Bionic chips featured in current-gen iPads.
Apple iPad Pro 2020 Release Date and Price
Previous reports speculated that the iPad Pro 2020 release date could arrive as early as March. However, a recent report by MacRumors claims that the gadget will arrive by the second half of 2020.
The starting price for the iPad Pro 2020 11-inch model will likely be around $799, according to PhoneArena. Meanwhile, the 12.9-inch model will likely sell for $999.
