Apple releases iOS 9.0.2, fixes cellular data usage problem

Apple has come up with a second update to the iOS 9 software, within just two weeks of its launch. iOS 9.0.2 update, released on September 30, contains bug fixes and improvements including:

  • Fixes an issue with the setting to turn on or off app cellular data usage
  • Resolves an issue that prevented iMessage activation for some users
  • Resolves an issue where an iCloud Backup could be interrupted after starting a manual backup
  • Fixes an issue where the screen could incorrectly rotate when receiving notifications
  • Improves the stability of Podcasts

Apple users have been experiencing a number of problems with the latest iOS 9, including installation problems, “Slide to Upgrade” glitch, unavailability of App Slicing and a recently reported upgrade issue between iOS 8 and iOS 9 that is affecting Mobile data settings.

Beta News reported that when one upgrades from iOS 8 to iOS 9, apps that were set to use mobile data before the upgrade continue to use mobile data in the iOS 9, while the apps that weren’t enabled can’t, meaning that “the bug in iOS 9 prevents certain apps from using mobile data -- at all, ever.”

With the latest upgrade, the iPhone maker seems to have addressed the problem. The company also released the latest version of Mac OS X on September 30, called ‘El Capitan’, which it says aims to refine the experience and improve performance in “lots of little ways that make a big difference.”
