Arla Foods will boost its dairy production investments In the next five years in such areas as sustainability, product innovation, capacity expansion, and digitalization by over 40 percent to more than €4 billion.
The company also has a new retainment policy allocating a higher supplementary payment of over €1 billion in its next strategy period to support farmer-owners on their sustainability missions.
According to Arla Foods CEO Peder Tuborgh, dairy is part of the solution for the twin challenges of climate change and malnutrition facing our global food systems.
He added that in the next five years, they would collaborate with their owners, customers, and partners to accelerate their transformation to a resilient and sustainable dairy value chain.
Arla targets a 63 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by utilizing green electricity, fossil-free fleets, recyclable packaging, and eliminating virgin plastics in branded packaging.
Last year, Arla was able to reduce its CO2 emissions by 60,000 tons by using energy from biogas.
